Vision

Our Vision in SSPHI: To be a centre of excellence in public health research, laboratory diagnosis, and public health emergency management in the East Africa region.

Mission

To improve the health of the people of South Sudan through early detection of public health threats, prompt response to health emergencies, and evidence-based policies and programme.
Ministry of Health on February 11th, 2019, through a Ministerial Order No :004/2019 established a Steering Committee (SC) and Technical Working Group (TWG) for establishment of South Sudan Public Health Institute (SSPHI). The technical working group was decreed to provide oversight and stewardship for the establishment of the institute.

Overall Goal

The overall goal of the Institute is to serve as a centre of excellence for supervision, control and coordination of all matters relating to public health, including disease surveillance, laboratory systems and networks, emergency preparedness and response, workforce development, and public health research in the context of one health approach.

Dr. Nyinypiu Tong Chol is an accomplished Public Health Professional with over 10 years of experience in Health Management and Health Systems Strengthening. Known for resolving complex problems, enhancing client satisfaction, and driving operational improvements. Dr. Nyinypiu’s skills include excellent interpersonal & communication skills, pitching and networking, epidemiological research, proficient in STATA and NVivo, logistic regression analysis, proficient in Microsoft office tools, outlook management, proposal writing using log-frame format, and documentation and report writing. He is currently the Technical Advisor, National Public Health Institute (South Sudan): o Leads the establishment and coordination of the National Public Health Institute. o Provides leadership training and guidance. o Coordinates resource mobilization efforts. He previously worked with World Health Organization (WHO) as an EPI Officer; contributing to immunization programs, Surveillance Officer; ensuring effective disease surveillance, National Consultant on Health Systems Strengthening/RMNCAH; supporting health system improvements, and with International Rescue Committee (IRC) as County Health Coordinator; Managing health initiatives at the county level.
